28'' 6mm Ackley what should I expect fps wise

I have a 6 ackley I set up just to see how much fun it can be to torch a barrel! I used it over deer season and RL26 under a 100gr Grand Slam netted 3450fps! I am wanting to try the 87 vmax next. I can find no instance of Rl26 being used with the 87 but I have a big jug and may just try and work up something. But I am curious what kind of fps a guy not worried about barrel life can expect to see from a longish tube and an 87. That way if I give up to many fps with 26 I can abort and regroup!
If it matters to anyone, that grand slam didnt give a rats arse about hitting a deer at 3300+fps I think its built for elephant!

I'm certainly NOT recommending this but I'd imagine if you stand on it hard right up till it starts stretching primer pockets you should be able to get over 3600 fairly easy. I think that'll most likely be at some pretty high pressure levels so I'd definitely keep that in mind.

Just be careful to not let yourself get carried away with to much of a good thing and damage you or the gun. Guns are easily replaceable. Fingers, hands, arms, eyes, or worse yet, not so much.

I'm not sure if this helps because I never ran anything lighter than 105gr, but I was running 105 Hybrids at 3350 fps in a 26" with RL26.

I never found top gear and never tried. It shot in the high 3s to low 4s so I stopped there because I knew that it would be a quick ride... sure enough 750 rounds and done.

Thank you
I agree and I have no desire to hurt me-self, I always work up and at the first sign of trouble Im out. Just dont wanna leave to much on the table!

I ran a 30'' 243 in f class 105H RL 26 3300fps! probly had 5 or 600 rounds down it same 100 pieces of brass. I pulled it to try another caliber, but I would guess I got most of the good out of it!

Over 3600 fps in my 30" 6mm Rem. Ackley with the 87 V-Max and IMR4831 without signs of excessive pressure; with best 5 shot groups in the low .3's @ 3550. Never tried RL-26; besides conserving it for loads that really need it, I had figured it best for heavy bullets. Edited from yesterday to clarify most accurate load.

In my 6mm ack. 26" 8 twist, I had no issues hitting 3450 FPS with N-165 ( nit a stiff load) with the sierra 90 gr TGK im running now with H4831sc im at 3510 FPS- have gone three firings and not needed to bump the shoulder. Not sure this helps but im guessing 3500-3550 with a 100gr and the 28" tube

my current 6mmai load for 87vmax is 49.5 rl17,norma 7x57 brass, in a 10 twist, gets me right at 3550fps. my past barrels I have gotten more but, this has turned out to be the most accurate load for me. I built the rifle specifically to shoot the 87vmax as my long range rockchuck gun. my shooting buddy shoots 88 berger's and I think I get more aerobatic action out of the vmax. I do have a dasher that I plan to loads with some 87's, less recoil, potentially more accurate, less barrel wear. I think the ability to take a follow up shot is more important than speed as wind and true distance are hard to accurately judge when shooting chucks.
