277 cal off the 243 Catbird cartridge?

Looking for any info if anyone has done this. Using the 243 Catbird as the base and necking up to .277 cal. Thanks for any info.

Isn't the catbird a 30-06 necked down to 6mm? If so, necking it up to 277 would basically be a 270 Win wouldn't it?

Yes, probably one of the many improved variant styles. :D Any thoughts on this or personal knowledge of this type of round? There is a guy on another forum who does the Sherman round, I'm sure this is similar but his has a 40 degree shoulder.

My thought was "Why bother?"

A .280 Ackley is far more flexible and there is good commercial brass available

Probably because I can't make a 280 A.I. from a 277 barrel that I have! Sorry, if that came off as a smartazzz, I should've explained that I had a .277 barrel first.

hi Jazz
do you have .243 catbrid reamer? if yes then id just get a .277neck and thraot reamer for ptg and do it , if not the 270ai would be chaeper bet
and thay are more or less the same thing
