.270Win loads

I just shot a ladder test with that combination this past weekend. I had two very distinct nodes at 57.5-58 gr and another from 59.5-60.5. I will load back up to 60.8 and see what the velocity and accuracy is for the higher node. I loaded up in 0.5 gr intervals, and the 60.5 load was starting to climb out of the node. 59.8 to 60 will probobly be the final load if I had to guess. I am expecting about 3000 fps with that load from my rifle.

Its a Ruger M77. I am using WW brass and WLR primers. I tried BR2s with previous powders, but the groups opened up from bad to worse. I will be shooting more this weekend to finish up the testing. I will let you know what I find out.

Been loading for the .270 for about 40 years now and the bullet has always been 130 gr, currently a Nosler BT. The powder has always been IMR4350, the primer is still a Winchester as is the brass.

I load to a little shorter OAL than what is currently in the manuals because it's an old rifle, and back in the old days they didn't run much in the way of freebore. If I were to load to max listed COL I'd be way hard in the lands and have to force the bolt closed.

Hi All,

Do any of you guys have a pet load for .270Win using H4831sc and 130gn bullets?

Any help much appreciated.

Hi in a 270 with Shillen SS 26" barrel i use CCI 200 primers with 59.5gr H4831SC for just over 3050fps I have always used powders around this burning rate eithr IMR4831, ADI AR2213, or ADI AR2213SC and that is the same as H4831SC
