270 AI?

I hunted deer with a 270 for many years with great success. The rifle eventually lost its accuracy. I have several hunt new brass and 200 or so used. I had not herd of anyone shooting a 270 AI. Is the 270 a good candidate to AI?

It is not. It's been done and tried and even P.O. Ackley himself said it was not a good candidate. I believe it is due to the fact that the 270 Win is already a significant overbore cartridge to begin with. Especially given the bullet weights available.

270 AI works good for me. Had a Ruger #1 with a shot out 270 Win barrel. Ordered a new barrel from Lija and had it chambered for 270 AI. I wanted to shoot Berger 170 gr EOL for elk. I was not disappointed. Killed a cow elk at 438 yds. One shot and down. worked well with this heavy bullet.

I went down that road. I got the velocity I wanted but the accuracy was only slightly faster than 270win speeds.
Now I rely on 270wsm for 140gr, 270 weatherby for 150gr and 27 Nosler for 170gr.
My best precision is with a pac nor 26" 270wby with 150gr ablr at 3300fps.
