.270 135gr SMK experiences??

i'm thinking about trying this bullet for next years deer season.... i know this is not a recmmend hunting bullet, but i would like to hear some actuall hunting experiences people have had with it. from what i've read it has worked well for the .270, but not so much other cals.

Why not try the nosler 130- 140 ballistic tip designed for thin skin animals. Seirra does not recommend matchking bullets for hunting applications. Why take a chance on a wounded deer getting away. ???

I use 135gr SMKs for hunting. I have shot three deer with this bullet ranging in size from slightly larger than a healthy German Sheppard to a fairly decent sized deer.

On the last day of the season two years ago I shot a small buck at 20 yards. The longest shot with this bullet was just under 300 yards and it was also bang-flop. All shots have been heart/lung shots and killed exceptionally well and quick. Keep in mind that I live in the Pacific Northwest and my hunting is usually relatively small black tail.

My load is 56.7gr RE22 in Winchester brass with a WLR primer. It's a fairly light load but very accurate in my rifle and more than adequate for the deer I shoot at the ranges I am comfortable shooting them at. If I was hunting elk with my 270 it would not be my bullet of choice but it is very good blacktail medicine.

I killed a doe at 115 yards with smk 135 about two years ago. I would not reccomend shooting any deer with the match kings. The doe I shot ran about 70 yards and went down. There was no blood and really no way to even no if the deer was hit. Luckily recovered the deer right on the edge of the field. Not a hunting bullet for sure.
