.268 6ppc Neck Trim

.011-.0112 kinda depends on the bullet dia. too. I've had different bullets measure .2431- .2435. I'll turn for .002 or a little more total neck clearance.

Do you know what the pressure ring of the bullet measures? Have you seated the bullet in the case and taken that measurement? Then determine the amount of clearance you want and turn away!

Exactly! Measuring neck wall thickness is the least accurate method to determine this dimension, plus, you're stacking tolerances. I get it! Lots of people speak in terms of brass thickness. If you need a precise measure, measure the neck od of a loaded round, subtract the actual pressure ring diameter, divide by two. There's your target neck thickness. When setting a neck turner, use this dimension, set it a tad shy and creep up on the desired thickness.
The only dimension that matters is the one you put in the chamber.
I came from tool and die..These things drive me nuts to read about people measuring in tenths, with a tubing mic, then doubling that. They are doubling their error. It is what it is so I'll get off of my soap box now.

Working back, my finished rounds are measuring .

Thanks for all of the responses.
I am working up a load with Bart’s 68gr Avenger bts. Not sure about the pressure ring but know that my initial trim to .0125 was not enough. I turned down to .011 and am at the desired finished round size.

I did not realize what a small part of the boat tail bullet is in contact with the brass. Initially I was getting .264 finish round measurements because I was measuring below the area that contacted the bullet. When I moved up closer to the mouth of the case, my measurement was closer to .267.

Trimming the neck down from 12 to 11 did not effect the load/node for the barrel.
Thanks again for the help. Charles
