54 gr. Hybrid 100v w/140 hunting target vld = 2900fps and 3/4" at 300yds out of 28" shilen select match. Accuracy trumps velocity, barrel life will be good. Only trouble with it, burns a lot more powder than my bra.

I had a 1965 Westerner in 264 WM. The barrel was in pretty bad shape when I got the rifle. I went ahead and bedded the action and freefloated the barrel.
With little effort, I found a great load with a 129g Hornady Sp with IMR 4831, Rem case, Rem 9 1/2 primer. I killed a few deer and one huge white tail. This 129g Hornady is a great 300 yard bullet if your rifle likes them, and I always got complete penetration on the deer.
