260AI roll call

Ok guys, winter is almost over, any new builds, development or testing to show? Post them up!

My new build is nearly finished, waiting on the stock in the coming weeks. Fire formed 100 new pieces of Peterson SRP in the 700 and will shoot them once more in a 600y match this Sunday. Twice fired is where I like them for final load development in a new chamber. I own my reamer, so development should be quick and easy. Going to shoot my old 140VLDT load to save the 153.5 bullets.

New gun before sending off for paint. Went with a Sightron SIII 10-50x60 scope.

Kelbly Stolle Panda, hand polished
Krieger 1:8, 30" 1.25" straight, polished
Sidhe BR Evo trigger, set at 1.25oz
Southwest Action Works F/open stock
RAD Lop only hardware
DSB Tuner
Vortex Pro rings, medium height

Will continue to shoot the Berger 153.5
Peterson SRP brass
N555 Powder
Rem 7-1/2 primer

Will test
jumping 20k to 3k
44.8-45.4gr powder

I fully expect it to shoot just as good anywhere in that range as the previous rifle. Just need to do the tuner test mainly to see how it holds up.

Very nice looking rig no doubt. If it shoots as good as it looks it will be a tack driver.

For you guys stuck in California and have to shoot a copper bullet, this is 124gr Hammer Hunter over 44.7 gr of H4350, in a small primer piece of Alpha brass and a CCI450 primer. Their is a higher node that is tighter but in a Remington 700 action it craters primers. I’m going to build one on a Bat Igniter and see if I can get there without pressure signs.
Actually, all copper is only required for "Hunting" purposes
There is no regulations on sporting/target purposes

Got the new #1 gun finished up this last week, went and got it zeroed today and a quick seating depth test done for tomorrow's 1000y match. She wants to shoot! Still need to do a fine tune on seating depth and a tuner test. Will load either side of -0.010" seating depth for tomorrow's match to test at long range, too.

SD looks ok, ES was off as this was shots 13-24 through the gun. My normal loads run under 5 for SD and under 15 for ES. I expect this barrel to speed up another 75fps or so by next months match.

Shot a seating depth test today during the 1000y match but by match 3 winds picked up to 15-18kts and gusting at full value. Had 2.5 wind dialed in and holding edge of black wasn't enough to center up during sighters, so added 1.75 more.

Order of seating depth test was longest, shortest, middle. Longest had just under a moa of vertical, shortest was ok but just didn't quite group like I wanted, had good vertical though. I saved mid for last, which was the -10 in my 100y test as I was expecting the winds to build and knew it shot small. It held really tight waterline and did well enough for the conditions.

Next up will be confirmation testing of seating depth and tuner testing at 1000y before I run a powder test across 5/10 of a grain, but this charge seems to be holding up well.

Just bought a Bat M action Krieger 29 inch HV barrel Revolution stock Jewel Trigger in a 260 Remington. Will this compete In 600 yard F Class competition?
SAAMI 260 will work in 600 or 1000 F/Open. 600 will be better suited, due to velocity and BC, but the cartridge won't hold you back at all.

44gr H4831 under any decent 140gr bullet is a standard accuracy load.

I forgot to mention it's a 1-8 twist barrel. And thanks for the load data. What is sight in recommendation at 100 or 200 for that load to be close at 600 yards.

1-8 is perfect, with a 100y zero dial up 13moa for 600y, you should be in the 9 ring and can fine tune it from there. Around 2750ish expected velocity for standard 260 and that load in a 29" barrel. Check everyone's 260AI fire forming loads for data.

About 11 inches high at 100 for a typical .260 Rem 140 gr. load.

Edited to add: Better add an inch and a half to that. I had my .260 AI hat on.
