.260 reminton question

I have a new shilen barrel (bull barrel) in 1in10 twist. What weight bullets can I shoot through it without destabilizing them? I also want to know if anyone else has bought and used one of these in the same twist.It will be on a savage action sitting in a choate varmint tactical stock with a jard trigger.The barrel is 26 inches long and stainless select match.Just want to know if it can be done.

One of my 264WM is a 10 twist. It will kind of shoot 140 grain Sierra Spitzer boat tails in warm weather, as well as 140 grain Nosler Partition flat base. However in cold weather they de stabilize and will not group at all. The McGyro code that Border Barrel uses suggests they are very close to a stability factor of 1.0 at the lower temperatures, so it seems to add up.

I would go by the Berger twist recommendations. They typically don't let you go below about a 1.25 stability factor.

123gr. lapua scenars should be pretty awesome out of something like that.

im getting ready to do some fireforming with 140gr noslers but ive got a 1-8 twist

Jon, Did you measure that twist? I thought we decided that was a 8 twist, or is this a different barrel. ed

Different barrel and it turned out to be a shilen 6mm rem with a 12 twist.I guess I am stuck shooting light bullets.
