260 Remington

I'm going to be loading for my bolt gun pretty soon here. The general census so far is H-4350 and H-4831sc as far as powders. I will be shooting primarily 123 and 140's. Bullets are pretty easy, Hornady and Sierra's for now. Maybe later I'll try some Bergers. What can you add if any to my powder selection. Thanks for any input.

I think your powder selection is about as good as it gets. R17 has a reputation for producing terrific velocities in the .260, but also has a reputation for being somewhat temp sensitive...

Good choice in powders. The H4350 is probably slightly better suited to the 123, and H4831 to the 140. I like full cases and the H4831 is more likely to do that.

My .260 liked R19 and H414 for the 130 grain Accubond bullets. 4350 will be in the same ballpark for burn rates as both of those powders.

i actually used rl 22 and had amazing groups and decent velocity 2760 with 140 gn amaxs very consistent and small groups was really surprised.

I think I would shy from rl-17 as it is harder than heck to tune and keep it that way. Stick with the other suggestions.I use h4350 and like it.Have had no problems.

Did you ever use the RL17, friend of mine used it an swore about it. Just want to load up a couple an try it, he can't find his reloading scrap book for the load he used. Do any one have a load for the RL17 stuck back anywhere. Cant find a load anywhere and don't want to start guessing. He like me getting old and he thought the powder was around 45 gr. That sound bout rite. Like you I use the h4350 and like it but same load always gets old unless Im huntin. Thanks
