260 Remington deer loads

My experience with the 130 Berger on deer is that it's the hammer of Thor beyond about 300 yards, but sheds weight too fast at higher velocities with closer distance. But it shoots so well, head or neck shots inside of 300 are my preferred shots. 8) I know some cringe at the thought of head or neck shots...but this is the Accurate Shooter website, after all. If you're not comfortable with that, the bonded or partition bullets may be a better choice. I've just never had much luck getting them to shoot anywhere near as well as the Bergers.

The std Hornady 129SP kills well but don't expect wonderful vels as it has a long bearing surface

120 grain Sierra Prohunters & 45 grains of 4350 , go like steam train in my .260 1:8 26" Barrel seated to mag length average 3/4 MOA at 100 yards.

140 vlds in wife's 6.5x55 8 twist is possibly the best I've seen on whitetail. She is running them about 2850fps which is more than doable with a 260. She has shot pigs to 825yds and a friend borrowed it to shoot a gemsbok and red stag. Neither went more than 30 yds. I manage a couple large ranches in south Texas and I have to track a lot of deer every year and never had to track one she shot. Good luck and happy hunting.

120 or 123 Amax with 46.5 grs Superformance 3140 is a whitetail hammer. Also run 120 & 123 Amax with H4350, charge evades me right now. No pass thru, don't need it. They are DRT. Last kill was this past Friday at 348 yds. Bang flop!

The last several deer I have taken with my 260 was with 127gr Barnes LRX's 44.5 gr H4350 Lapua Brass.
They have worked great every time, quick clean kills, minimal meat damage.
