.260 rem with 130 accubonds...

I just acquired a rem 700 in .260 with a 24" factory tube, sporter weight, and have never loaded for that caliber before. I have a box of 130 grain accubonds lying around and figured that would be a good hunting/practice round. Anybody have any good loads for that combo or any combo really. Hogdon's site as well as Nosler's don't have much info on the 130's. I would also like to try the 120 Sie Pro Hunters and 140 Sie Game Kings.

The powders I have on hand are H1000, H4350, H380, H414, and RL 19 (not opposed to buying a different powder if need be). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

With either my 260 or 7-08, H-414 works the best, so I'd start with that.

For a hunting load, I would look somewhere between 45.0 and 47.0 grains of RL19.

H414 should be OK also with loads between 41.0 and 43.0 grains. It won't give you quite the velocity that RL19 will though.

These both come from Nosler.

I am surprised that I could not find load data for that bullet with H4350, I suspect that the best possible load may come from that powder, but I don't have any data to share.

My hunting load in my 260 Rem with a 25 in. barrel is 45 grs. of H4350 with 130 gr. accubonds.
2930 fps. in my gun. In my gun the load was appro. one half to one gr. under max. Hope this helps.

I've developed 2 similar loads for my Tikka 595 hunting rifle in .260 Remington, that you might find of interest:

LOAD 1:
Nosler 130 accubond bullets - seated 0.010" into the rifling
Nosler brass that a good friend gave me
Federal 210 M primers
47.0 grains of H4831 SC powder
MV = 2,850 fps

LOAD 2:
Hornady 129 gr. SST bullets - seated 0.100" into the rifling
Remington .243 brass necked-up to .260
Federal 210 M primers
47.0 grains of H4831 SC powder
MV = 2925 fps

Both loads produce 2/3 MOA groups at 300 meters.

Thanks fellas,

I just went and bought some 140 game kings to play with too.

While I was at the store I looked through the Nosler load book and their most accurate powder tested for the 130 accubonds was RL 19: 43gr, 45gr*, 47gr. I will definately try that one, and the ones you suggested. Gonna look for some data on the 140s.

Thanks.

My SF CDL loves 40.5gr of Varget with the 130gr Accubonds with neck sized Rem brass, and Fed 210M primers. Seat them long.

My cheap cheap practice load for my CDL SF Limited uses the Speer 120 SP (cheapest Bullet available ), Varget, CCI 200's in Rem cases. 66.5 clicks on my Harrell premium meter gives me 2780 fps and ,6 moa 3-shot groups.
