Suggestions for powder for the new Sierra 6.5 150?
Using H4350 for the 142s and wonder if I should go slower to test the new bullets
Have 30" barrel and get 2940 with the 142s.
Thanks

My plan is to try H4831sc. It seems to be a lot more available and looks to be in the burn rate range. Please do keep us posted.

Heading to the range today to try RL 16 w/ the 150’s in my 260AI. Will let you know how it goes......

Reloder26 has been pretty impressive for me in the .260 and now my 6.5. I pushed the 147 Hornady to 2825, with less than half moa accuracy. I could have gone a bit higher. My Creed will not take quite as much and I shot it at 2745 with good results, but I am not a hair splitter either. I really liked the Re16 with some 129 Interlocks at 2900 fps, so it should also work well with the heavies, I would think.

How compressed is the R26 load? OAL?

OAL with the 147 is at 2.830 in the 6.5. That is where it touches the lands in my rifle. There is some crunching, when the bullet is seated, but doesn't appear to affect anything-even in the .260. The OAL for the .260 is about the same in my rifle.

The 26 seems like it is a very dense powder, so more fits in the case easier. At least that is my observation. It is a great powder in the 6.5s, based on my limited testing. It gets great velocity and 1/2 moa accuracy, even with my less-than-precision reloading.

I was able to achieve 2900+ fps with RL16, using Lapua Palma brass, BR4 primers, 32 7/8” Brux, 1x8 twist, Panda F Class action. The rifle is chambered in 260 AI for the 140 Hybrids which I Drive @ 3000+fps.
I only tested at 100 because I was not sure what I would get for velocity.
I will take the best groups/velocities to 300 for further testing.
P.S. no pressure signs on any fired rounds with the 150 SMK thus far.

2900+ with a 32 1/2 barrel in AI. Sounds like my standard 260 with 30 barrel will be good for about 2800+. Question will be whether my 1-8 will.stabilize it at sea level. Waiting for bullets to test.
Thanks to all for posting their results on this topic.

Correction; my barrel length is 31 7/8” instead of 32 7/8”. Sorry about that. I am over around Pensacola so sea level is my elevation as well.
