.260 Rem out of a .260AI barrel-accuracy?

Does anybody here have experience shooting standard .260 Remington out of a barrel chambered in .260AI? I have always thought that this was not a problem but that you could NOT got the other way around,.260AI out of a standard .260 Rem. chamber).

My main questions pertains to accuracy. Will the .260AI chamber mess up fireforming standard .260 Remington brass? I want to be able to shoot both rounds out of the barrel, practice with standard .260 Remington but shoot for groups with the AI rounds) accurately but am uncertain as to whether I'm looking at much shorter brass life out of my standard .260 brass.

Thanks & I apologize if this appears to be a stupid question.

well you are just fire-forming really.you accuracy might suffer a bit,260 in 260AI.if you are firing a factory load your groups are most likely to be less accurate by far.no the 260AI cant go in to a 260 chamber.you can shoot both out of the tube but all you get is lots of AIed brass.and your brass life will get longer with the AI case cuz of little body taper.

when you fire a 260 rem case in a ackley chamber it fire forms to the ackley dimension, after that it is a 260 ackley and can't be used in a standard 260. you can still shoot the 260 round for practice in a ackley chamber, but after that it is no longer a standard 260. the 243 info page shows the difference between a standard 243 and a ackley. it also tells of fireforming cases with a small amount of powder with a fast burn rate and a filler.hope this helps. cliffe
