.260 Rem AI for F Class???

3000 fps is not only achievable, but surpassing it would not be hard, with VVN560.
My 260AI was 24" and I got 2990 fps easily, without pressure signs on a 90F day.
It was accurate in my rifle, but 4831SC (2935) and N165 (2925) were more so.

Wolfman, I shot with Leo two weeks ago at the Kingston June Match. Gord wasn`t there. Was in a squad with Leo and Dr. Thompson. Jim and I were shooting .223s. Never asked Leo what he was shooting. What`s that old saying about ships passing in the night?

Sometimes he shoots a 6.5x284, and sometimes it's a .260 or the AI version. Now that I think about it, it may well be the SAMMI version... Gord's is definatly the AI flavour.

Good cartridge, good ballistics and almost the equal of the 6.5-284.

Another option with no fire-forming needed is the 6.5X55 Swede. Lapua makes brass, dies abound and there are no down-sides.

I'm sorry, but I am having a real hard time believing that a 6.5X47 is driving 140's as fast as a 6.5-284. With a stout load, MAYBE the 130's. Most use this excellent cartridge for 123-130 grain bullets. Sorry, I remain unconvinced.

Well, it's hard to believe until you shoot it over a chronograph and look at the numbers. I have seen 3041 from my 6.5x47 Lapua with 139's with a 28" bbl using Reloader 17. Backed it off of course, but you can get over 3000 fps. if you wish!

Ah yes... the panacea RL17!

I have tried that powder in 6-6.5X47 (Extensively) , 6XC, 260 (extensively) , 6.5-284, a 284, 6BR and even a 308, having read about its magical properties that make it a very fast powder. In all but he BR and 6.5-284, it was the fastest - but with apalling accuracy. In fact, i have never gotten that powder to work well in anything.

It must work in something, because so many people like it. Maybe it just hates krieger barrels. ;)

RE-17 just slightly beat out H-4350 as the most accurate powder in my 27" kreiger straight .260 Rem. The extra 150fps is a nice bonus.

Actually, I happen to think that it loves Krieger barrels. I did this with a 6.5x47 Lapua and a 28" 4 groove Krieger using Reloader 17.

I also have a 284 Shehane and it shoots .500" 7 shot groups at 200 yds. with Reloader 17 and 180 gr. Berger VLD's, oh, and a Krieger barrel!

RE-17 didn't shoot worth a damn in my Kriegers. Velocity, sure, 3010 with a 140 Berger out of the "47" case, but accuracy was not acceptable. I put the stuff back on the shelf and have not touched it since. Probably need to sell it to someone who actually likes it, um, Erik...

I'll take it off your hands, as bad as it is you should almost be willing to give it away! ;D

I'll try to make the 600 yd match, bring it with you, we'll make a deal.
