260 Rem., 123 & 130 grain loads.

I've finally got everything to load for my Savage model 16 in 260, 22" thin barrel. What are you guys loading 123gr A-max, SST and 130gr Berger Hunting VLDs. I'll be loading H4350 although I do have 4064 and Varget.

Thanks

With the 130's I use 43.0 of H4350 and a Fed 210 Match primer. Works well and brass lasts a long time.

Thanks

McGowen 24" .260 barrel, Savage varmint contour. My load is 130gr hunting VLD, 45.4gr H4350, Remington brass, CCI BR-2. Around 2945fps at the present 24" barrel length. As for seating depth, when I worked up the load it was a 0.015" jam, but I haven't chased the lands at all, so it's probably jumping at this point (COAL is around 2.95", cartridge base to ogive is around 3.30" using the Hornady tool). Still shoots good (around 0.5moa). I started shooting F-Class with this barrel about 5 years ago, when it was retired after 2000 rounds, I had it cut down to 24" and put on a Stevens 200 action and use it as my hunting rifle.

Edit: barrel is mounted on a long action, my cartridges are loaded very long, they will obviously not fit in a short action magazine box. So YMMV.

I shoot 44.8 IMR4350 with 123 scenars @ 2890, 120 amax is 47.0 H4350 in my gun no pressure I get 3145. 136 scenars 43.0 H4350 2785. All a jumped 10/1000's.

Ive been playing with another 260 rem, this time a gas gun. The Hodgdon site seems to be messed up or they have decided to push the new powders. I went to the Nosler site and found a lot of good info. Check it out, I think you will like it.
