123 grain sierras

have some 123 grain sierra matchkings coming tomorrow. i have a 260 rem that i am reloading for. i have imr 4350 and H4350. Anybody have any load suggestions for this combination. was thinking of starting around 43 grains and going from there. you guys have any suggestions. barrel is 26 in shilen select match with 1:8 twist. thanks guys.

Load I worked up for a friends .260 with 123gr SMK/H4350 I started at 43gr like you went in .5gr incriments and believe 44gr was the load that shot the best. Where you are starting is right in there with where everyone shoots that combination.

Check ur PM & personal email...info sent. BTW, each rifle is different, so don't ASSUME what works in one will work well OR be the best bullet/powder combination that can be had in your particular rifle. I'd recommend tesing with both those powder's you wrote about or even others if you have them.

Shynloco has the right of it , only way to find out is put in the time over the bench . My .260 is just over 1 month old and I have put through 176 load development rounds.
What I discovered so far , the barrel which is 26"1:8 devours 85 grain Sierra HP's best group to date for 4 shots 0.360" the fifth shot , a flyer took it out to 0.659."
Also the barrel loves 120/123 grain Sierras, these both shoot consistently around the 0.500" loaded with 45 grains of H4350.
The barrel does not like 95 grain VMAX , 120 grain Speer Hot Cor , 120 Ballistic Tips show promise as does the Hornady 100 grain SP .
The projectile which did not perform as I would expect was the 130 grain Berger VLD hunting BUT no matter , the 129 grain SST screams with a group of 0.621."
I have used , Varget , H4350 , 8208 and VV N560 , and all the projectiles I have tried so far have performed best using Varget & H4350.
Lapua cases and RWS 5341 primers were used in all loads.

regards
Mike.
