.260 for f class

Hi all,
I have a .260 and want to start shooting f class. I have Lapua brass with large primer pockets and am looking at 136 gr scenars.
Just getting started and am thinking of using it for mid range and 1000 yard to see if I like the sport. Is this a viable idea? I have a tikka tac a1 with a 24" barrel 1;8 twist

Yes. Get out and try it but just don’t expect to shoot high scores at 1000. Use it as a stepping platform. Just get out and shoot one. You will be hooked

Got a couple 260 shooters at our matches 600/1K guns look pretty stock and they hole there own, go far it enjoy

I started F-class shooting a 6.5x55 Imp 142gr bullet. Earned my 600yd (MR) high master and my first 1000yd 20 shot clean running it. You will be at a greater disadvantage from your personal limitations learning to read wind via flags/mirage..insects, trees, grass, dust, your neighbor's "OH $hi+" etc. than you will from a .260. Run what you have until you are hooked...then get a 7mm and shoot 180's. LOL.

I also started with a 260 for everything. After 2 years, I got a 284 for long range and continued with the 260 for mid.

I prefer 140-142 gr bullets. Then again that’s just me.

Participate and run what you have. You'll be learning new things, meeting new [like-minded] people, and hopefully having fun, which is what keeps us coming back. At some point in the future, you could have a longer barrel chambered for the rifle, even go to .260AI if you wish, but those things aren't necessary to get started. What you will learn through participation and discussions with other shooters at matches can help you formulate a longer-term plan regarding equipment changes you might want to make, but the first step in that process is to show up and participate.

Then when you get a few miles under your scope...like Robin says get a 284 and really
see what its all about..

I am using 136 Scenars on top of H4831sc in my 260 for F-Class midrange and longrange matches. I am running ADG brass with large rifle primers. This is an effective combination so stick with it and just get out there.

Thank you I have the 136 scenars coming and have some Lapua brass. For powder I have accurate 4350 H 4350 and some SW.

I bought a box of 1,000 Scenar 136s at McGee Stocks. They were out of stock for a while but are now back in stock.
