260 AI SRP Brass and H4831sc

Gday Everyone

Just curious if any of you on here who have 260AI's have used SRP 260 Brass with H4831sc?
Im looking at either forming 260 Brass from 308 Palma lap brass or getting Alpha Munitions 260 SRP brass and using H4831sc powder with 140/147 ELD M's. Will I need to use Mag primers or will standard Match Primers work? I have a brick of Rem 7 1/2's that ive been told burn pretty hot for a standard primer.

Any information greatly appreciated.

Cheers

I use the .308 Palma brass necked down with RL 16 in my 260 AI with CCI 450 primers.
I have not used H 4831sc in the 6.5 but have tried it in my straight 284.
PM “Shootdots” for info on the Alpha or Peterson brass with the 260AI.

Correct me if I'm wrong but if you use 308 brass your neck will be .025" or .030" short ??? Plus Ackley forming shortens them anyway?

I can attest to the quality of Alpha brass. Great stuff.

Not a 260AI just a straight 260. I found the 4350 powders give higher velocity but 4831sc was slower by about 75 FPS although much more accurate in my F class rifle. I’m shooting 142SMK’s pushed by 43.7gr of H-4831sc in Peterson brass. Now I’m working on the LRP vs SRP thing.

In a formed case I've had great success with 46.2-46.4 grains of rl26 and 140 hybrids going 2960ish. I have a little more freebore than most. 260 alpha brass, and 450 primers.

I tried 4831SC with my 260Rem and 260AI. Neither one achieved the velocity I wanted compared to H4350 or RL17. I've got 7 1/2 lbs of 4831SC I need to find something to do with.

With a 30" barrel I was at 2940 fps with a full case of 48.4 grains of 4831sc and eps 146s, and 2960 with 140 hybrids, same powder. It shot ok, but I liked what I found with rl26. Same speed, better accuracy in mine.

I would have guessed you would have gotten higher velocity with RL26.

It will easily push 140 hybrids to 3100. I did using standard load development practices. And finally checked with a chronograph and was too high. I backed it down to where it shot again and 2960 is where it was at. It's been very stable there.
