I am wanting to build a 260 AI for some long range tactical shooting my concern is ordering the right Reamer that I could get dies for. I would like to purchase a JGS reamer. any help to be appreciated. I'm trying to order a Reamer that will match dies I can purchase. I will be using Lapua brass.and it will be a repeater

Tell us more, like bullet and action.

from what I was told 260AI bullets need to be jumped, and mine likes about .060 jump I was shooting RDFs at about.800 group size touching the lands backed off .060 went to .225 group size so order your reamer accordingly, Which will be good for a repeater also you can seat them deeper in the case, if this makes any sense, all I know is I'm very happy with the results from jumping but there are alot of shooters on here that know tons more than I do

ShootDots should be on here shortly. He has several .260 AI’s and knows the cartridge well. He is a wealth of information for this round and a very helpful, nice fellow. Ask for some advice from him.

I can use all the help I can get I have not played with a 260 before . I am thinking of going with 1/8 twist because my primary bullets would be from 140 grain to 147 grain.my emphasis would be starting with the 147grs would be my first choice.I have shot AI's in several other calibers and love them hopefully the 260 will go as well.

I have one on a Tikka action, 25 " Shilen barrel.
Everything I have loaded 140 ELDM, 143 ELDX, 140 Berger VLD T and 130 VLD H has liked .005 off to a touch to the lands. Your rifle may be much different. I didn't build the rifle, but got it with just a few rounds down it. It's a Shilen pre fit from what I understand. Holds 1/4 minute out to 500 ( as far as I have put on paper ) and seems to at 1000 but all I have shot with it there is steel. Maybe you can get reamer specs from Shilen? Sorry if this isn't much help.

Thank You! The reason I have not responded is because ALL the .260A.I.s I have are for F-Open. They are ALL single shots. As far as giving advice on the reamer freebore for a repeater, I can't do it. Hopefully, a PRS shooter will chime in and he may be able to better help. I would but my "guess" would not even be an educated one.. Sorry..

I run my 260ai in a repeater with Berger 140vlds. A 1-8 is a good choice because it will let you run just about any billet you want. My reamer has .060" freebore and I am able to feed out of FN TBM mags but just barely while touching the lands. These particular mags won't let you load more than 6-7rds in the 10rd because the wider shoulder interferes father down in the mag. 5 feed perfect from either the 5 or 10rd. I will be changing over to the CDI bottom metal to run AI pattern mags over the winter and next season. I'm getting 2930fps with 44.6gr of H4350 out of a 27" barrel.

The reamer used was the standard ptg one that Bullets.com stocks. I don't need to turn necks either. It was just right for Lapua brass and Redding dies. Nothing custom ordered on this one and it turned out perfect.

Order a JGS 260 Ackley reamer with no longer than a 150 freebore if you want to mag feed. I cant remember the neck diameter, I think its about a .296-.298 for a no turn. You may consider necking down 308 palma brass to get small primer cases. Redding s-dies work well with the 260 Ackley. Id take a hard look at the 6.5 creedmoor now that we have small primer lapua cases, it may do everything you need it to.

Something to consider is the extra long bullet bearing surface of the 147 ELD you mentioned wanting to try. As you can see it has a pretty short Boat Tail relative to a 140 Berger Hybrid and most other bullets like the 142SMK. This caused my seating depth to go well into the case. Not a huge deal on the 6.5X284 where there is a lot of case capacity to work with. Might be an issue with the 260 and short neck cases.

If it helps anyone, my sweet spot was 45.6 of H4350, jump of .052, Hybrids, Lapua with necks turned, at 2950 with 30 inch barrel. Never seen a more accurate rifle.

Who's reamer works with Redding's 260 AI dies and laupa brass . Redding will not give me their specs so that I can get a reamer made to match. That seems a little ridiculous to me.

I haven' measured my dies internally, but they seem to work well in the Criterion Match chamber (.298neck). I' using the full length s die, competitio seating die. I do use a collet neck die rather than the expander ball and bushing though.

Alpha munitions is making srp 260 now, just as good as lapua.
