260 AI, Hornady 147 grain ❓

Has anyone been shooting these in their 260 AI I was looking to get some info on speed , powder and accuracy thank you for your time

I load the 147 ELD-M in my Creedmoor and get easy 1/2 MOA or better to 1000 with it. BC holds true also. I get 2820fps from my 27" Creedmoor and H4350 so a 260AI should be 2900+. Some great ballistics at that speed.

I just shot some of the Hornady 147 ELD factory loaded ammo the other day to 650 yards and it shot great too. I shot the three on the bottom and was seeing no new splash so I held a little higher and shot the next two. Using the dollar it looks like about a 2.5" group. Can't complain about that with factory ammo. Velocity was about 2720fps from the lot I have in my 27" barrel.

it would be awesome if I could get to 2900 accurately with the 147S. that is an awesome speed out of your Creedmoor with the 147's.

You shouldn't have a problem getting 2900 with a .260AI and a decent barrel length. What rifle set up you using? The 2820fps load is my higher node and I have an equally accurate lower node at 2690fps but I would rather have the speed LOL

I'm going to have a Barrel lengthlof 28 to 30 in , coming out of a blueprinted Remington 700 I would like to have it feed out of a magazine.

With that you should easily make 2900. My barrel is 27" and with you extra length and case capacity it should work fine. When chambering try and make up a dummy round to fit into a mag and give it to the smith to chamber accordingly. You can get accurate magazines that load up to around 2.950" and those would be what I would recommend with that combo. My load is .030" off the lands and I am at 2.860".

I would look at RL26. I am getting less than .5moa in a factory Tikka 6.5 Creed with a 24" barrel at 2820fps. It seems to be temp stable so far. I will do more testing.

I shoot a 260AI and have been using 143 eld-x and 147eld-m I use H4831SC and have been using some RL-22 as well and the RL-22 let me get up over 2900 with a 26" Krieger. I know I stopped at 48.5g of 4831sc as it was getting on the warm side. I'd have to go back and look at my RL-22 data.
My last barrel I used 42g of MR2000 with the 140 amax and also 48.0g of 4831 with the amax.

If a fella wanted to mag feed while touching the lands out of a short action, what freebore length would be needed for those 147's? I see reamers with .060 .100 and .160 throats. I'm wanting a 260ai hunting gun so it's got to mag feed and I have both AI and Accurate mags.

I have a .140fb and load 140rdf -.030 @2.950 (single shot) So one of the shorter two is where I would look, depending your magazines.
