26" 1:7 enough for 90's?

jbpmidas

MR F-T/r
I was going to order a 30" Savage F-T/r, but my dealer couldn't find one. So, I ordered the right bolt, left port LRPV instead. Is the 26" barrel enough for the 90's out to 600? I'll be using Varget powder.

you will be fine. the only problem is that the 90 will be seated far into the case. i have shot 90 bergers out of my 18" 1-7 douglas barreled ar-15 and it worked great. i say berger 90s, not sierra. there have been problems with the sierra 90s. if you dont have the desired freebore in your chamber, you can always get a new barrel and order a spec'd reamer from PTG

My 28" Mcgowen 223 1:7 shoots the 90's really well, but its throated for them. I think youll be ok to 600. If not, try the 80 amaxs or even 75s you cant really go wrong with them

I've been reading today about folks experiencing accelerated throat wear with the 90's. Anyone experiencing that? One reason I have stayed with .308 and .223 for F-Class is barrel life.

For anyone shooting the 90 VLD, are you jumping or jamming? The 185 Hybrids in my .308 seem to like to jump .010.

In having discussions with Laurie, he advised me to not expect more than say about 2200 rounds with the 90's if using RL15 and maybe 500-700 more rounds if using Varget. That is the base line that I will be using with mine.
