I am of the opinion that the totally new crop of non-belted cartridges coming out the past few years are more of a sales gimmick than anything else. Yes, I really like the absence of a belt, it really only comes into play with tapered long shouldered cases like the two original H&H's.
You have to present potential new rifle buyers a reason to do so.
In the late1920's, Grancel Fitz completed the first North American Grand Slam. That was the 27 (iirc) varieties of big game found on this continent. He did it with a 30-06. The two major advances since are flatter shooting cartridge designs to increase the distance. That, and milder recoiling ones for target use. I am guilty of both reasons. Reduce taper, and increase the shoulder angle.
Mostly, today's hunters just need to learn rudimentary stalking skills.
