Great guy, easy to talk to.I have a message into him.
I know this is an old thread but curious if you found a solution to convert that 2500XR to single shot? What is needed to convert a 2500XR (repeater) to a single shot like the 2500X? I would like to just add a plate inside the action (ramp) like I have on my Rem 700 making it a single shot. I would like the option of retaining the ability to return the action to 2500XR specs.
Hi Merrell, Thanks for thinking of me. Unfortunately I don't make anything for the 2500XR. I haven't even seen one in person that I recall. I'd need to have the rifle and mag to make one. Jerry's local to me. So maybe I'll ask him about it at some point. But not sure it's worth the effort for a one-off.There is a gentleman on this forum ,PWNolan, that 3D prints single shot loaders for several rifles. I have his loaders for several of my rifles and they function perfectly. I don’t know if he makes them for your rifle. You could send him a PM.
Good idea to talk with Jerry. I’ve never actually seen a XR2500 repeater either. I’ve read from several sources that they use a Savage magazine but Jerry would be the authority on that.Hi Merrell, Thanks for thinking of me. Unfortunately I don't make anything for the 2500XR. If someone is looking for a Stiller 2500XR action Euro Optic still has them listed. I bought one about 18 months ago. They are listed at $999.99. It uses a Remington 700 SA footprint.Good idea to talk with Jerry. I’ve never actually seen a XR2500 repeater either. I actually forget there's two different versions. Wasn't the XS the one Jerry made and the XR is the one that was made by the new "Stiller" company?Don’t know if the XR and the XS are comparable. I had an XS that Jerry converted to single shot. It was a great shooter, wish I would’ve kept it.
I thought Jerry did both. I bought my XS in ‘20 if I’m not mistaken. I think the XR was earlier. Hozzie would knowI actually forget there's two different versions. Wasn't the XS the one Jerry made and the XR is the one that was made by the new "Stiller" company?
I'll ask Jerry next time I see or talk to him. May be awhile since our outdoor season is overI thought Jerry did both. I bought my XS in ‘20 if I’m not mistaken. I think the XR was earlier. Hozzie would know
This. There is no converting an XR into a single shot outside of a single shot adaptor that goes in the magazine well. There is a plate Jerry made for the XS's. The XS uses a Sako mag, but isn't intended to actually feed from it. It's just there to meet the regulations. The XR (700 footprint) was made by Jerry when he still had Stiller Precision Firearms. When he sold the centerfire line the XR action went with it. I own a XR rifle, it uses Savage MKII magazines. I use a single shot adapter from time to time. Jerry made the XS action(Same footprint as a 2500X but the front action screw was in a different spot because of the magazine) for the IR5050 shorter class. A few years ago when he had a bunch of actions left he designed parts to make the XS a single shot action.
What do you want to use it for? Certainly there are a lot of good Rimfire smith's out there now, but the XR can be finicky.I have a 2500XR action that I need barreled. Who can do this? Thanks
