Suspect you’re right. I have an early one in right, right of which he did a few.
Not my favorite configuration but it was Eck’s personal sporter and no real issue to feed as I shot a 54 based sporter for years

Those were XSs filled in to convert back to Xs as I understood it. I am planning to convert a 2500X to XS if I can get the parts needed to base my sporter. I believe there will be issues with doing the side lightening cuts based on where the engraving is for PQP and what's legal to remove. I've got to evaluate the weight differences and see if it's feasible without them or get very creative somewhere else. The magwell portion should be no problem. I've got some information from Jerry and going to try to talk to Dan on Monday.

We remove the the mag well from the action and glue the savage clip in a aics mag. Install m5 bottom metal and they feed great.

Are you thinking of the XS Tim? I don’t think the XR’s ever had the option to add the SS plate.

On the 2500XR I bought last spring, I had a local smith machine a single shot feed ramp that fastened where the mag well was. I'm happy with the way it works.

I realize it could be possible, but was referring to the ‘factory’ SS adapters Jerry made for the XS’s. The XR’s were never sold with that option.

I’ve had both. The XR’s were pretty finicky to feed on a day to day basis. The XS’s were never designed to actually feed even though they had a magazine. Just depends what you needed.
