250-7 Blaser (0.340 G7 @ 3400-3500 fps)

Is any body that built one of these still shooting them and what is your favorite load. I built mine to run the 131s but now that's not going to happen. I've tried some 135gr Berger's with pretty good luck with retumbo. Now I'm going to play around with the 145gr blackhole bullets.

What about the new Hornady 134 ELD-M, have you tried any of those now that they are available? If you can get your hands on any Viht N570 with the 25 caliber heavies should be a very good powder choice for this size case. N570 is a little bulkier then even Retumbo but it'll produce better velocities too.

With 7mm Blaser mag brass not very easy to get anymore and ADG is going to be making 7PRC brass and the two are so very similar a 25 PRC based off of the necked down 7PRC could make for a near twin to the 25-7mm Blaser.

With the 7mm Blaser case having a pretty long neck and a bit of case taper I always thought a "improved" version with the shoulder blown out to 40° would make a pretty cool cartridge. Some years ago over on LRH forum I recall someone building a few 7mm Blaser Improved versions and I think their version had a 40° shoulder but I don't recall how much it increased case capacity. I wanna say it bumped it up to around 90gr H20 but I could be mistaken on that, I just don't remember all the particulars.

The 7 Blaser mag is a well designed case with kind of that Goldilocks size case capacity. Hornady must have thought so too because their new 7PRC is practically an identical twin to it. :)

No I have not tried the 134s yet do to I haven't found any yet. So your saying 570 would be a better choice? I have plenty of it to try.

Yes, I think you'll find N570 will give you somewhere in the neighborhood of 75 +/- fps over Retumbo at the same pressure. In larger magnums or things that are fairly overbore that have a lot of case capacity N570, often, produces some of the best velocities.

blue collar reloading has them and at the best price. I've ordered from them a lot over the years and they are top notch place to deal with.

Thank you!

JGS has the dummy rounds and we will be comparing them to the modified standardized 7 Blaser print today.

After discussions with a few of the 250-7 Blaser supporters regarding an updated name, the early 6-12 guys who buy first reamers for the project will get to cast their vote for the name from a short list of 5 options.

257 Black Maxx

257 Blackbird - after the SR71 Mach 3+ plane

257 Jackpot

257 High Roller

257 Pit Boss - this was the original name of the 257 Blackjack cartridge but a few MFG's wanted a more standard name when we were heading toward full commercialization.

Should be a fair and fun way to set it in stone.

I'll post the reamer print on LRH tomorrow and the reamer-preorder slots on BJB tomorrow too.
There is a 6.71 Blackbird already...A 257 Blackbird may confuse "some"

How about a 257 based on the Wea. 6.5 RPM case ??
That would probably be the biggest case you could find using a standard .470 bolt face and pretty much equal to the 25-7mm Blaser, 25-7PRC, 257 Weatherby, 25 WSM.

Yup....But only a .007 neck difference. It would be super easy to make.

Absolutely agree, certainly would be an easy peasy neck down. Does anyone make a neck bushing die for the Weatherby 6.5 RPM?

In a stand bolt face Rem 700 build, OAL would be to long for a Tikka, using a 26in pipe, something like a 25 RPM would be about as good as it gets. My only concern would be brass quality. If Weatherby's RPM brass is good stuff that'd be great but if it's not, wellll maybe not so great then. :)
