I have much interest in something very accurate and non magnum.

Exactly. Knowing what elevation you shoot at, and what your intended use of the rifle and thus bullet weights will help a lot. I have a 25-06 for my long range shots. I use the Berger 115 gr VLD-H in my 10T. Would be marginal on stability but since I shoot at 5000 feet elevation and 3000 fps, no issues.a little more info and people might add bullet recommendations too.
And if his muzzle velocity were say, 3,000 fps??At MV above 1500 FPS, your 1:10.5" twist should be ok-good (> Sg 1.4) with BT bullets up to about 1.10" long, and [mathematically] better with FB bullets of equal length. Presuming decent jackets, anything shorter should work well. From BR tournaments, through hunting, 25BR; 25x47LAPUA; 250/3000 Ack. Imp.; 257Roberts Ack. Imp.; 257IdiotMag (25/300WSM) all serve me well.
The worst hurdle is the [relatively] limited bullet selection. For pure precision, I'd opt for either 25BR, or, 25x47 LAPUA. RG
Kimber had a proprietary cartridge made for one of their rifles some years ago.I am fairly new to the quarter bore world. I have a 257 Bob Ackley. It shoots very well with the 110 hornadys. I would like to get some of Randy's boolits to try. During my fire forming, the 87grn sierras actually grouped very very well. I had my rifle built on a short action, mainly because that's what I had. For the longer bullets, seated out long, a long action would be a better choice, if a repeater is what you want. After reading the posts before me, the thought of a 25-223 or a 25br sounds really fun.
Once the MV & twist rate produce > Sg 1.4, increasing the velocity isn't worth consideration - "it's all about" twist rate: bullet length. For practical application, using Std conditions and MV above 2K FPS will let us know if we are using an adequate twist rate. Based upon 35 years of "testing*" the math - for the last 20+ years, I have never purchased a barrel which will produce less than Sg1.4 at Std (sea-level) conditions - form there, it only gets better. And if his muzzle velocity were say, 3,000 fps??
Forgot to mention the 25 Souper.
Aka 25-308.
I do not know the length of the monolithic bullets - except that, for weight, they are LONG. The TSX may work fine - they were probably made to "work" well enough via the industry standard 1:10" twist. Keep in mind, < Sg 1.4 is not a wreck - it simply erodes BC and, at some point, precision. Thinner air is your friend. RGThanks all
I'm around 5000 to 6500 elevation
I'm leaning at the 25x47L or 25br will that twist handle a 100gr tsx?
