25/284 loads

Is there anybody out there that shoots this round i have a Rem. short action or would i be better or with a long action i have a Bartlin barrel that was chamberd by Dave Bruno with a 1/10 twist any help? Thanks. Jerry

I shoot a few of them with the Berger 115 VLDs over H-4831 SC....
XP-100 actions, in rear grip handgun stocks..
Never had a deer or Antelope walk away from one of them at any sane distance.
The 100 grain Ballistic tip is also a good one, but I like the 115 Berger better when the shot is out a ways....

Look at the Sierra Manual for 6x284 loads and you will get a good idea where you want to start and be safe.

Why settle for 6mm-284 data?

While the history of wildcats based on the 284 Win is a little murky, Hodgdon state in their manuals that the 25-284 was actually the first one to gain a significant following. Later the 6mm and 6.5mm versions eclipsed the quarterbore.

Nevertheless, Hodgdon still publish 25-284 load data!

It seems like H4831 is the sweet spot for all but the very lightest bullets.

I would think a short action might cramp your style if you want to load from the magazine and shoot long bullets, but my understanding it it will work in a short action.
