25-222 Mag rifle cartridge

The 257 Kimber is a 25-222 RM Improved. 20 years ago I was on the cusp of building a Kimber and did a lot of research on a 25 on a small bolt-face. I end up building 25-204. All the improving is done so it ends up being a 257 Kimber clone with no fire-forming and with a tapered expander pretty much run one through a 25-204 FL sizing die and load.

Back to your 25-222 RM, Wayne Blackwell did extensive work with that chambering and his whole article can be found in "Wildcat Cartridges Vol. II" by Wolfe Publishing and is titled "25x47". Lots of load data is included but with older powders. The 25x47 moniker of the stories is the 222 RM is a 5.56x47, the 6x47 was a popular BR cartridge on the 222 RM case and the 6.5x47 Lapua wasn't even a gleam in someone's eye yet.

The 25-222RM, 257 Kimber and 25-204 quite close and pretty much duplicate the original factory loading of the 250-3000 and 257 Roberts.

I hope you enjoy your new rifle, I've had 20 years of fun with mine including loading 85gr Flatpoint cast bullets for small game.
