25-06 Berger 115 VLD

Anyone running the berger 115 VLD in a 25-06?
what twist rate are you using?

according to the twist rate calculator on berger's website, a 1:9 is the slowest to get optimal stabilization @3000fps and a 1:8.25 gets excellent stabilization. i used 3000fps for a conservative number

was wondering what some real world twist rates were for good results with these bullets?

I shoot 115g VLDs in my Pac-Nor barrelled .25-06 with 1:10 twist. Behind Retumbo (60g+), I am getting around 3200 fps from my 26 inch barrel and no stability problems (about 1000 feet above sea level). I have shot this combo out to 600 yards at the range with great accuracy and precision. I have killed a whitetail at 250 yards and one at 606 yards with this combination.

Hope that helps.

Remington runs a 10 twist in their 25-06's.

I shot a Sendero in the 1K stock class with 115 VLD's, Lapua brass, and H4831-SC at 3200 w/o any issues. Set the range record with a 4.XX" group.....

MathewsSB,
The 1-10" twist we recommend is the "minimum" twist rate you need for stabilization of the bullet. We do suggest using a faster twist rate to help keep the bullet more stable as it passes from super to trans to sub sonic speeds. One factor that makes a big impact on the stability factor is ALTITUDE. So when you use the twist rate calculator you may want to go to the National Weather Forecasting site and find a representative altitude there to help if you don't know. Hope this helps!

We run Berger 115 Vld's in my nephew's 25-06 over a charge of 60.0+ of Retumbo for a velocity of 3044 from a 24" Rem. factory barrel. As always start lower and work up on powder charge. Whitetail killing son-of -a-gun from waltzing distance out as far as you feel comfortable shootin' at 'em

Yes in a Savage 112BVSS stock one in 10 twist 26" barrel. Used IMR 4831 very accurate. I used it competing in 1k VBR in 2011 at Ridgway for 2 years, placed 1st and 3rd in my class at club championships. Barrel shot out at 1500rds. It was a good run with a varmint gun.

No problems out of a factory Sako AV (I think 1:10) out to 300 yrds. Most accurate bullet I've put through it.

I sure wish they would do a .257 125-130 Hybird,,that would make the 25-06 into a badass,,

all I shoot in mine is the 100 NBT and IMR4831 for 3425 fps and bughole groups,,

I shoot them in an old Remington 700 Varmint Special 10tw. Havent shot them at very long ranges but do know they they kill deer quite well.

I use them in both .250-3000's and the 25-06 with excellent results in 10 twist barrels. Absolutely devastating on deer.
