25/06 ackley advice

I’m buying a 25/06 AI with a 7.25” twist, wanted to shoot the 135 bergers but no luck finding them. So gonna try the 134g eldm it’s a 28” barrel. The guy I got it from said it did real good with n565 powder but can’t find it either so gonna try H1000 anyone have any guidance for me.

UM has quite a bit of N565 for sale if you're looking for some. I've bought a pretty good amount of stuff from them over the last 2-3 years and they have always been great to buy from and work with so if you aren't familiar with them rest assured they are good to go.

I don't have a 25-06 but in my as well as many others I know 6.5 PRC those are two of the "go to" powders and they nearly mirror each other in velocity. H1000 sometimes takes a few tenths of a grain more then N565 to achieve the same speed but they're both excellent powders.

With the Ack Imp version you've got some case capacity to spare so I'd be tempted to use N570 or RL33 with those mid 130 grainers. I'd be willing to bet either of those powders would be good for close to if not another 100fps over N565 or H1000 in a 25-06AI with any of the 130's.

H1000 rocks in the 6.5, so I guess the 25 version too. - being single base powder, it will look after the barrel better than 565. I have shot plenty of animals with the 6.5 -it's on a BSA Viscount long action/PacNor barrel. Lovely light rifle.
