I've started some rather extensive load development in my 8T 243 Win with a 22" tube. This is my first post on the Hide. I've not chronographed the load I've liked the best so far yet so I'm not sure of SD or ES. I was going to find a few good accuracy nodes with a couple different powders then run them all over a chronograph and go from there. The load I've come up with so far is 41.7 Gr of H4350. It shoots well between 1/4 and 1/2 MOA and I haven't played any with seating depth. If I had to guess its probably in the neighborhood of 3000 FPS. I got to 42.0 Gr with no pressure signs. I'm going to work up to 43 in .1 Grain increments. Anyone have any Retumbo or H1000 recipes I could work up to just to have a couple options?

First off this isnt the hide. Second dont worry about how it chronos if you find a load that shoots. Paper matters way more. Hodgdon manual says h1000 should be compressed at around 46gr at 2900fps. I concur. Very good load but hard on brass and barrel. Doesnt matter to me. Id go around 44 and work up but id go in .2gr steps- no need to wear your barrel out shooting steps most cant even measure reliably.
Your right where you need to be already. Don't mess with it.
I started long range bench rest with a 243 WIN. I started with H4350 and changed to H1000 on advice that it is easier on the barrel. I also use hBN. I tried RL-17 but couldn't get it to shoot reliably.
With a 28" barrel I used 46 gr of H1000 for right at 2900 fps.
And, I did get good life from the barrel, for a 243 WIN!

Sorry I copy and pasted my post from the Hide and forgot to delete that part. Second I don't really care about speed much I want to chrono to check SD. I may do a quick ladder test in .2 gr increments with H1000 just to test the waters. I'm gonna go from 41.5 to 43 in .2 gr increments with H4350 as well. I was seeing zero pressure signs at 42 so I might as well see what I can get out of it. May get lucky and find something that shoots a hair better.
