243 Winchester reloading

Hi all
Whats your opinion of Hornady 87gr HPBT.
Looking for an all round projectile for my 1:10 twist .243 if this is indeed possible.
Looking to shoot Wallabies, Deer and targets.
I found anything approaching 100 grains gets a bit unstable.
I have been using the 90 gr Lapua Scenar on targets with success anyone tried them on game.
Any opinions or assistance would be appreciated.

If you want to use 100 gr bullets in a 10 twist then stick with round nose and flat base spitzers that are shorter than secant ogive boat tail offerings. They might be hard to find though, don't see them in the bullet catalogs anymore. The longer the bullet the faster the twist needed.

Use the 87 gr V-max for deer and other animals here and it works well. It's is more of a varmint bullet so don't expect to punch through shoulder bones or make quartering shots. The BTHP is similar in jacket construction.

I have a 12 twist .243 and use the Nosler 80gr ballistic tips out to 500 yards. The base has a bit heavier construction that helps with penetration.

Haven't shot the Scenars so can't comment on them.

Me too...I am dead set on the 95 grainers. Berger VLDs are first on the list. I am about to have a Krieger with a gain twist chambered for straight .243 which will run 87gr V-max and a 243AkclyImp to run the 95s through 105s with a straight 1.8 twist. My thought on that bullet is...you can do better.

I've tried the 87's in two rifles. They shot well enough for hunting but I never could get em to tighten up like a Berger. Not even close.

Thanks for your help guys.
I have 100 Nosler 90 gr balistic tip projectiles.
I hope to have good results when I try them.
I have Varget and H4350 any advice on loads

Sierra makes an 85 gr Hollow point for the 243 that is incredible--accurate and made for game. Works surprisingly well on deer. Will try them in my 6BRX this season for deer. I called Sierra's hot line and they recommended it--I was surprised as it was a HP--thought they were primarily for targets--they said no--this was a game bullet. I tried them--they work well.

Hi Wishbone I have to agree
Sierra 85 gr GameKing works just fine in my 1 in 10 twist.
Was out this week end and shot wallabies on the other hill side @ 634 yards Leica Geovid range finder.
I am happy with these.
3160 fps out of my 20" barrel.
All touching at 100 yards top hunting and accuracy bullet.
