.243 Winchester Case Length/Trimming???

I have started loading longer COAL on my .243 Win. Normally I trim back 15 thousands from factory specs for overal case length but I started loading out COAL farther (closer to lands). Will I be better off to trim back less than 15 thous? I am wondering because of case neck tension on the bullet. On the big calibers this has never been a problem but could use some advise on this one.

Thanks

How long is your chamber??? How long/short are u trimmin em.....I use a 2.055 chamber and trim to 2.035...they ususally dont ever grow enuff to need trimmed again....(use a .060 raidus on your reamers neck/shoulder jct.!!!it helps..)....as long as you have ~.060-.080" of grip they will shoot good(any less and they can be knocked loose by rough handeling....it is all aobut how much FB and which bullet selected.....it is tuff with a .243 and its short neck to use the whole spectrum of 6mm bullets....I use a .100FB and find it to be a good compromise for 107 down to 75 gr bullets....it gets triky with the Botique bullets (62-68 gr)....I usually have to jump them .040 to get enuff to feel good about handeling them...Roger

Told to me a while ago but I have never checked the validity:

Seating depth should be at least the diameter of the bullet, meaning a minimum of .243" of the bullet should be in the case for the 6mm.

Have you measured your actual chamber length? I use the Sinclair, caliber specific, gauges. Many chambers allow a much longer case but ammo then will be gun specific. With a .243 there should be no problems getting them to grow! ;)
