243 Win Cases for 6x47 Lapua

I intend to build a 6x47 Lapua,6.5X47 Lapua necked down) and some of my friends are now also considering it.

For a variety of reasons,rifle licences, availability and costs of cases, waiting period for imported brass, hunting, etc) some of the guys want to use locally produced 243 Win cases. I will however use Lapua brass, as I've long since past the desire of working and fire forming brass.

Is it possible to use 243 Win cases and if so, what will the procedures be before fire forming,including AOL)?

Your advise will be appreciated.

The 243 needs a large rifle primer and I feel this in itself would detract from the 6x47's intended design and inherent accuracy for it's case capacity.

I would also think finding really good 243 brass from another manufacturer might be a task if your not going to turn necks to knock off the thick sides.

lastly, the extra work involved to save a few bucks is not worth it if you won't get the accuracy the 6x47 is capable of.

He's developed a '6CM' cartridge which is very close to the 6x47 from the 243win. He can get you plenty of info for this.
