243 win 105 amax

I'm currently using RL-22 but I think I'm have temp sensitivity issue. I want to switch to maybe H4350 or h1000 . Anyone using either of these powders with luck?

I am using 42 gr. of Reloader 17 w/ Wolf Large Rifle primers in Lapua cases, Sierra 107s for 3160 fps and great accuracy. H4350 is in the same burn rate zone.

I started with H4350, but very quickly changed to H1000 due to an article claiming H1000 increases barrel life. For both AMAX 105 and 107 SMK I use 46 gr of H1000 . Barrel is 1 in 8 and 28.6" long. Muzzle velocity 2930 ( sweet spot for my barrel). That is about the max for H1000 as any more and it is a compressed load. I didn't care as higher velocity comes with short barrel life.
I did try RL-17 ( use it in my K31) but never found a sweet spot as stable as H1000.

I'm going to lean to towards H1000. I have a little powder left to try, seems to work well from what I've gathered.

What COAL did you settle on with the 105 A-Max and the 107SMK?

I use 42gr of H4831sc and it works real well.

I don't remember the COAL. I load for a specific jump and my barrel likes 0.040" jump.

You may want to look at Retumbo, too. I use it in my AR10T 24" and get better velocities than H1000, and comparable accuracy. 3K fps vs. 2800 did it for me. Sorry for the crummy cell phone pic, but that is 5 rounds into a smallbore target at 100 off a bipod.

H1000 and the 105 Amax has proven to shoot really small groups with my .243 Savage. 1-9.25 twist....

I also tried the H1000 as I said. It was more consistent, more accurate, and had lower ES/SD. It was 2800- 2850 ish if i remember correctly. I was developing a big game hunting load for the 200 Bergers I had. I never tried the AMAX, as I have a 10 twist that stabilized the 105 Berger sample I had, so I stuck with it.

If you have a fast enough twist barrel to shoot the 105 gr/107 gr bullets, try out RE-26.
