243 Varmint loads

What are some of the favorite varmint loads for 55-65 gr bullets. Mainly yote, but possibly use on PDs. Thanks

48 grains of H380 behind a 55 grain Ballistic Tip works well for me, 3850 fps and 1/2" at 100.
45 grains of the same powder behind a 60 grain HP gives me around 3600 fps if memory serves me and a tad over 1" at 200 yards on a windy day.

I have had the best accuracy with my 243 when using IMR 4350 and Fed. match primers with most bullet weights. I mostly shoot bullets of 70 to 75 grains at varmints.

My Rem 788's pet jacketed varmint load is the Hornady 75 grain V-Max atop 45.0 grains of WW-760. WLR primers, seated with .025" of leade clearance. 3400-3425 FPS. .5-.7 MOA to 300 yards, if I do my part. The rifle is box-stock.

The same rifle also dotes on the RCBS 95 SP cast bullet. These I seat to lightly engrave the leade. 12.0 grains of Alliant 2400 gives 1750-1775 FPS and .8-1.25 MOA very reliably, to 200 yards. Lyman #245496 does almost as well with the same load. WLR primers in all loads.

My model 70 with a wilson 1 in 9 likes 44.8 gr. of H-4350sc with the hornady 87 gr. v-max in weighed and sorted ww case with fed primers seated .020 off lands. Velocity is right at 3300 fps. and groups around 1/2" give or take a little when conditions are good.

found a load that shoots pretty good 44 gr of h4895 under 55 BK, chrono's 3850 ave and shoots in the hi .3s-lo.4s. The ES/SD on a 5 rd string was 109/42. I know pretty ugly, enough to make kittens cry. 44.5 grn H4895 shot 3845 ave and ES/SD of 42/16.xx, good enough for a coyote load and it shot real good also.

I have been using win 760 with a fed 210 with bullet weights in this range for many years. Accuracy will be right at a max load for your rifle.

Ive been reloading since the early 70's..although not for a .243...but I have NEVER seen that occur. "Best accuracy at Max load..???"

When I was shooting a std. 243, most accurate load with Sierra 60HP was the same as Keith's......about 48gr/760 which is right up near book max. Velocity was 3800. Very accurate and would just demolish jackrabbits and prairie dogs.

+2 On keith candler's load on ww760. Been using that powder in my 243's since the mid 70's. Excellent results with 60-85gr bullets.WD
