243 IMPROVED 30, 243 AI , AND 6MM SLR

I currently have a 6 mm barrel w/ a 8 twist, and trying to decide on whether to go back with standard 243 or try one the 30 or 40 degree shouldered rounds. Of the 3 in my subject heading which one will be easier to work with and I assume that FF ing can also be accomplished with the SLR round also? Will Lapua brass or Hornady brass form w/o dounuts this way? Any input appreciated.

Thanks

I HAVE (2) 40* 243 IMPROVE'S ONE IN A 12 TWIST FOR 70GR BULLETS 1/8 TWIST FOR 105 BERGERS THEY SHOOT GREAT.I ONLY USE LAPUA BRASS, MY RIFLES ARE .270 TIGHT NECKS

I just finished forming 250 hornady brass for my 6slr and the don't appear to have any doughnuts. From what I've read the Lapua will have one.

Can you FF the slr from 243 win., and if so will it leave doughnuts just like die forming.?

6slr is not fire formed it is sized from 243 brass and then shot but it is still the same shape as it was initially sized. I'm just delving into world of Lapua brass with mine. Up until now I have used win or rem brass with tons of firings and no donut problem. Many members on here have witnessed donuts with Lapua brass. I'll know more this coming summer.

No, a 243 case will not chamber in a 6slr...your pushing shoulders back instead of foward. It is real easy to do and while I haven't shot the others you are asking about I do own a 6slr. I almost pulled the barrel off and had it rechambered for something else and Preacher talked me out of it. One of the smarter things I've done since I started shooting. Its a hammer and the easiest gun I have to load/tune...not sure if I just got lucky and hit something out of the box or not but it's impressively accurate.

Mine is setup as a tactical gun that I plan to shoot those games this year...but I've been real tempted to buy a bench stock just to see how it would stack against my brx and dasher. Mine is that impressive on accuracy.

Good luck.

Just order my stiller today for my SLR! Wish I had info to help but I like the way people are talking about it! Preacher gave me some pointers and I can't wait to get her put together!
