.243 AI varmint loads (70-80 grainers)

Hey I'd like to hear some of your loads for these (I've already searched but would like some fresh input) I'm mainly looking to see about the 75's and what kind of velocity your getting. I have a handful of powders but am interested in getting another one to try such as 4064 or W760.

Thanks

I can't help with particulars (I don't own an AI "anything"), but in my standard 243s and 6mm Rems, I have had great luck with 70 gr Nosler Ballistic Tips and 70 gr Sierra MatchKings when shooting groundhogs.

75VMAX with 38.5 grains of Varget and CCI mag primers gives me about 3300 FPS avg from my .243 AI. Prairie Dogs just disappear with that load.

No longer have the rifle, but I had good luck in a 1:10 twist 24" 243AI with 70gr BT's and H414. Velocity was in the 3700fps range if I recall.

Again, what powder are you using for the 70g Noslers?

I hope this isn't considered a "hijack" but I have a 1-14 twist in 243 AI. Never owned a barrel wth a twist that slow. What do you short line shooters recomend for a bullet. This is a fireform barrel, but I might a well keep the varmint population in check.

About 10 or 12 years ago Varmint Hunter magazine had a writer named Steve Timm. Steve was into the 243 AI pretty heavily for a while and one of his loads was my favorite. H-414, Fed match primer, win brass, 70 Gr ballistic tips at about 3700 FPS. I've seen Steve on the predator master forum within the last couple of years and you could probably search on his name and start a dialog about the cartridge. Good luck.

I been shooting some 70 grain Nosler B tips with my standard .243. I been using Varget. I started at 39.5 grains and just ended up at 41.8 grains. I seen those exact bullets for sale in packs of 250 on several different sites.

Hammond reworked 700 action with 14tw .243AI tube, Lapua cases, Varget, BR2's, Sierra 70 grain BK's=.3 MOA. I tried H4350 and Reloader 17 with .5MOA results but Varget remains the accuracy leader in my rifle. I haven't chrono'ed this particular load but I use 3800 fps in my "Shooter" ballistic S/W for drops to 600 yards.
