243 AI Load

I just finished building me a 243 ackley. I used a 22", 9 twist barrel. Im planning on using 1 of 3 bullets depending on which one shoots the best. These would be 95gr VLD's, 100gr partitions or 95gr ballistic tips.
Does anyone have a good load they would like to share?

Thanks

I was hoping you got some replies on this. I am just about to try some load development for my .243 ackley as well but I have a 28" bull barrel w/1-8 twist.

How did you go about fireforming the cases to Ackley.
Some use revolver powder under maize meal with a "paper bullet" jammed into the case mounth...this is to save on bullets.
Would like to hear how you did it.

I am planning to do an Ackley, 1:8 Twist with a 100-107 gr bullet for long distance shooting.

Reason: Ackley is a case saver and you don't have the doughnut effect in the case neck.

I'm going to try some IMR 4320 for the 80 gr bullets I have and IMR 4350 and H1000 for the 95-105 gr bullets I have.

I did find a couple useful load info posts on the sticky but I didn't see any IMR 4320 loads for the 75-85 gr bullets like I see for the regular .243 in my reloading books.

I wish you would tell my Lapua cases that! ;D

The only thing that helps doughnuts that I know of is to make sure when you turn necks, my slow twist .243AI is a .266 nk, that you make sure you kiss the shoulder with the appropriate angle blade.

I run Varget with Sierra 70 grain Blitz Kings in my 14tw. It is a very accurate setup but you sure don't have to worry about a compressed load! ;D
FYI, I'm getting 3900 fps with them from a 26" tube

I run H4831 with the 105 grain A-Max in my 8tw .243AI barrels. Great velocity and accuracy leaving me no desire to experiment with other powders.

I see the H4381 sits right in the middle between IMR4350 and H1000 on the printed charts I have for burn rates so I might just give some of that a try. Thanks.
