243 Ack Load Reccomendations?

Just finished fire-forming 243 Ack brass. I intend on shooting 300,600,1000 yd, Bench and Prone. I have 87,85,95,105,107,108 bullets from the various MFG's. I have 414, Varget,H4350,IMR 4350,H4831sc,IMR 4831,H1000,H870,as some of the powders. CCI BR,Fed 215GM-M primers, Rem 9,& 9-1/2,Fed 210, for primers.Lookin for 210M primers.
All brass has been prepped and culled, neck turned to .2685 for the .270 neck chamber. Lapua,RWS,Rem,Win,Fed.at least 60 of each ready to go.
Any current load data you have shot well, I'd appreciate. I have a few from 6mmbr.com, and a couple from other sources as well, but I find, currently used loads from people) seems the best place to start load development.
Savage Target F-T/R,Devcon Bedded,Harris Bi-pod,Shilen 28" 1x8",.243Ack .270 neck. Ferrell 20MOA base,WarneQD rings,Leuppy 30X target scope,borrowed), awaiting Sightron 8-32x56..soon I hope. Got A Stockade PD/Tact stock ordered from Kevin,and Sinclair Bi-pod on it's way.,I use a Modified Hart/windage top and Protektor rear bag for load development.
Any and all advise will be helping an Old Fart get a late start on paper punching.A newby just learnin' so be nice...lol..
About to order a 6BRX and 280 Ack as the next switch barrels..1st the 243Ack.!!
Retirement just turned a lot of fun..
HELP!!

reloader243,
I've never had a .243AI, so I can't offer direct advice for loads. I have seen a couple .243AI's blowing up bullets though, so my advice would be to keep this in mind when you're developing a load. I see you've got a 28" bbl, which is better than a 30" bbl from a bullet failure perspective. ,less friction, less heat, less chance of bullet failure). Other things to consider that will reduce your chances of blowing bullets up are:
Moly coated bullets
clean burning powder
careful bore cleaning
use non-max powder charges
Look for bullets with thicker jackets. Berger is developing some thicker jacketed 6mm bullets that will be available sometime soon. Sierra bullets also have slightly thicker jackets in general.

Again, sorry I don't have specific things to try, but I wanted to speak up and maybe help prevent you from unknowingly falling victim to a notorious bullet destroying load. Nothing quite as disheartening as that gray 'puff' as your bullet disintegrates 1/10th of the way downrange.

I'm sure the others on here will have more constructive and specific things to try.

Good luck old timer!

reloader243,

Howdy, I have been shooting my 243 AI for about 6 months now. The best combo I have found is Lapua brass, Fed 210M primers, 87 grain V-max and 48.0 grains of H-4831 sc.

I have a 1-8 Krieger with a 237 bore, .268 neck. Seems to shoot ok will keep 1/2" groups at 100 yards.

I have shot H-414 I found pressure before the case was filling up to the shoulder. IMR-4350 & IMR-4831 shoot ok as well.

Search this forum for 243 AI. I had a post back at the beginning of the year with quite a few replies.

Thanks,
Tony

Thanks for the info from all. I'll do a search on the forum, forgot I could do that....dah....I'm looking for the heavier bullets for bucking the wind, but 87gr should make a good 100-200yd bullet maybe. I enjoy shooting prone, wish F-T/R allowed more than my .308...and .223 is a bit small for beyond 300-400 I'm thinkin,.. for me anyway. Looking to be able to run the heavies..2900-3000 fps..if that is what this barrel likes.I'll never be a comp shooter, should of gotten into this years ago, but it sure is fun to get them all to touch in a string..
I'm hooked on little holes, and never satisfied unless they get smaller....

Go to week 24 of the Guns of the week...if that doesnt impress you ..or give you some good load data....then there is no hope....and OBTW..chek out the 243/243 AI load data.....if you are using good bullets ...you will get good groups...Roger
