.243 80 grain varmint match bullets

Hiya Guys,

If you shoot .243 80 grain varmint match bullets can you give me an idea of the powder loads and seating depths that you are using ???

I've had some success with V-Max bullets but I have found them to be so inconsistent on weight and OAL that I thought I would try the 80grain Bergers now to compare.

You know I've have very good luck with the Sierra 80 Gr. Blitz (not Blitzking).

I use boron nitride coated 80 gr Noslers with a Lilja 12 twist .243 Win. The load is 38.1 grs IMR-3031 in Lapua brass with Fed215 primers and seated to 2.825 OAL. This puts the bullets in the lands when chambering the cartridge. I run a .268 neck bushing with a .270 loaded diameter.

Plus one on the Seirra Blitz bullets. They are good. By far the best 80gr boat tail bullets that I've shot (and am still using them in matches) are from Precision Ballistics. http://precisionballisticsllc.com

Around 41 grains is what I've used. I seat them just short of the lands and use a .267 neck bushing on them for tension. Mine was chambered for a no turn neck and is a 1-10 twist.

I use them in my 6 BR and now 6*47 and both perform outstandingly. Sorry never tried them in the 243 (it is now retired) so can't give you a load but looks like Cporter has given you enough load data to keep you busy for a while.

I live in South-Africa so I can not give load information as I do not have access to your propellants. I also use them in my 243 with excellent results, my rifle has a 1-12 twist with long freebore. My load yeilds 3550 fps with low ES, I jump them 1.3mm and use CCI BR2 primers. At lower speeds they seem not to be stable at 300m.
