24 Varminter

This us strictly a Varmint gun. Base off the 6.8 SPC case. Formally known as 24 GPC from Mad Dog Weapon Systems. Eric from Varminter Magazine bought the rights to this cartridge and has been shooting it a few years. He made a batch of barrels and here we are. Offered in 16", 18" and 20" barrel lengths.

I have a 18" rifle length gas built mainly for coyotes out of an ar-15.

24 GPC starline brass. Has to be ran though a 24 Varminter die then trimmed. I will be testing starline 6.8 spc ran though the die and trimmed.

Im shooting 80gr Berger Varmint bullets with H4895 at 2930 fps with great accuracy .75 or better at 100 yards. I planned on testing other bullets but this just shot so well. I have shot three coyotes with it and two skunks. Its devastating to say the least. I love wildcats and this one is easy to load for and shooting great without alot of tweaking like the Arc's have been for me.

This cartridge is very interesting, similar to the 6 max. Inching closer to one of these
Similar but better if you ask me 90gr would be about the highest grain bullet I would use. 6.8 spc brass is available if you dont mind the headstamp. Barrels etc should be available soon. Not sure on a release date just yet.

6.8 brass is available and cheaper than 6 arc etc. .40 per vs .60 plus
6.8 SPC mags feed flawlessly with zero issues.
You can run powders like Accurate 2520, H4895, RL10X, H322, Ar comp.
Very easy to tune in my opinion.

I see where my question was not complete..

So let me see if I can do a little better.
I still believe that, the case capacity is on par between this 224 varminter and the 22 Nosler ..

So why not just neck up 22 Nosler to 6mm?.
To me is just easier".

Or I missing something?

I cant answer that fully but I can repeat and say brass availability is a big issue when making wildcats. MWDS made this wildcats years before the 22 nosler if im correct

22 Nosler brass one day I feel will be hard to find. Nosler is only ones that make it correct ?

85's in a bolt gun at 3100 so I would expect 2900ish in a gas gun. And it's a straight neck up on 223 brass, no fire forming.
