230 OTM for Elk?

My new 300rum barrel perfers 230gr OTM.

Velocity 3130 fps measured with Labradar. Anyone have real world experience on elk from 100 to 1000 yards?

I'm sure it'll work on coyotes too.

You'll have worse bullet performance at ranges under 300 yards than beyond due to the fact that the high velocities at closer range wont expand the bullet well. The sniper wannabes that like to shoot (wound or kill, it doesn't really matter to most of them) would love that setup because it gives them an excuse to take long range shots.

My RUM likes the 230 OTM too. Close or far, bang flop. I've had good luck with 210 VLD as well.

I have taken two at 100 yards and one at +/- 200 yards with a 375HH (260 gr Nos AB or 270 gr Barnes TSX) and one at 350 yards w/a 300 Weatherby (180 gr Nos partition). I only had to shoot them once. The RUM will do real well. I shoot 200 gr Barnes LRX in mine.
