22X47 Lapua dies???

I just use the 6.5x47 Redding full length die with a correct bushing in place, for my 22x47, 6x47 and my 25x47, and of course my 6/5x47 Lapua's...
Never noticed a problem with one die for all of them, with the correct bushing in place..

Thanks Bruce,

I`m just thinking out loud here with the possibility of launching the 90gr. bullets from one.....

Since I prefer not to neck down cases with a bushing die, I used some dies I already had on hand. Started with a 6X47L FL die, then a 22/250AI body die and finally a 22/250AI FL die for final neck diameter. I have a set of Widden 6X47L FL bushing dies with an extra .224 caliber decapping stem/expander button for normal reloading. Vic

Thanks Vic,

I have a Forester 6x47 die for another project already.

I may just be pushed into a .22-250 AI build too, since I may have a need for the dies if I go this way.

I love switch barrel rifles....

Exactly what I did. I built the 22 x 47 before Lapua came out with 22-250 brass, as I wanted something close to 22-250 capacity with Lapua quality brass. Now that Lapua makes 22-250 with small primer pockets I would probably just gone that route with an 8-twist for 80 grain bullets, same twist I had on my 2-47.

They do.............?

I was under the impression that they were large primers.....

I stand corrected, I looked at the 22-250 brochure and the loads they had developed were with large primer. In this case I see enough difference in the 22 x 47 and 22-250 to stick with my original decision of going with the 22 x 47.

Phil, thanks for making the catch.

A guy could run the 6.5 creedmoor lapua brass through a 22-250 die if you wanted small primers in a 250 couldn't you?

Not sure of the dimensions between the two, but it sounds reasonable, if the numbers will allow it.....

I know I formed 6.5 creedmoor from 22-250 cases. I'd think it might work going the other way. Probably have to trim I suppose.

I would like to know where you are finding Lapua 22-250 brass with small primer pockets. To my knowledge, Lapua only makes that in 308 Palma brass. Please send me a link if you know for sure that they do. I would like some of it. I think you may be mistaken. I hope I am. Thanks.

284 Winner,

Wade responded to your question above, indirectly, unfortunately we all make mistakes from time to time.

Small primer 22-250 Lapua brass does NOT exist......:(

I don't want to just take the conversation elsewhere here but I posted a bit up the page and really didn't get a good answer.

Could a guy take the small Primer pocket 6.5 creedmoor brass and run in through a 22-250 full length die and have small Primer pocket 250 brass??

I`m not sure of the differences and dimensions between the two types of brass.....

I thought that 22-250 could be made from small pocket 308 brass, but at what investment of time and dies????

Phil.
