22-250 to 22x47

Well I really want my 22 cal to run through a 10 round aics mag. 5 round mags feed perfect. 10 round mags with 6+ no go.

Have any of y'all used the 22-250 brass to form the 22x47L?

How bad is forming the 6.5 to the 22 ?

I thought I had read that someone was using the 6 or 6.5 bushing dies with the correct 22 bushing.
I'm running all Whidden dies.

Thanks!

I have a 22x47l and it feeds from a 10 shot AI mag. It was in an HS thumbhole stock but since I just put it back into a nice piece of walnut I've gone back to the floorplate.

I had a 6x47l a few years ago and kept the brass. I have a 254 neck. No 22 neck turner. I turned them with the 6mm turner and then I ran thru a bushing neck die with a 251 bushing. Perfect

I have READ that they will come up a bit short on oal. Not unworkable, just short of spec, not sure but maybe .010 - .015" iirc.

I can live with that. Just wont have to trim! Especially since I have like 600 pieces of 22-250 brass!

trevort, so you just used your 6mm die with the correct 22 bushings? I am going to call Whidden about dies tomorrow, Sounds like resizing is just a bushing change, and the seater should be no problem.

Now I am thinking I may just spin up a new barrel and sell mine (Savage sm shank) instead of rechambering it.

I am thinking more and more about doing this

I am building a 6x47 right now also. Just waiting on the action to show up. I love my 22-250 with the exception of feeding more than 5.

Just wish I could find a reamer print ! hmmm might be calling JGS for a reamer tomorrow!

Missed my brass started as 6.5x47l. Yes just sized down with bushings, necks are turned. I just tried some 40gn pills for a laugh. got to 4432 without pressure signs but don't think I need to push the envelope. I would definitely say its overbore. Barrel gets very hot very quickly

I think I am going to go ahead and do it. Getting it to feed out of a 10 round AICS is my main goal. It does not seem much more overbore than the 22-250. I think I am going to try to sell my barrel and buy a new blank to spin up. Judging from the reamer prints it looks like I can take 22-250 brass and bump the shoulder back about 0.100" and it should chamber. The neck will be a little short, but I can live with that for a varmint gun. Just wont have to trim for a while! I will mostly be shooting 80 grain Berger Hybrids and 55 grain Sierra Blitzkings.
