.22lr RPR ideas

Has anyone upgraded their RPR? I am going to call it that knowing it means Ruger Precision Rimfire.

I am looking to see what anyone else has done to their rifles. It looks like TriggerTech will be coming out with a trigger for it. I plan to purchase one of those right away. Anything else anyone has tried?

The only pieces I have added was an up right grip ( more comfortable for me), a foam piece on the cheek rest and a blast diverter on the barrel. The trigger I adjusted and works for me. My RPR is in 17 HMR and shoots 3/8" groups at 50 yards and will ding all of my steel at 200 yards. I also have a RPR in 22 lr , stars and stripes version, that I am setting up for my daughter to shoot. I shot 1/2" groups at 50 yds with it.

I bought one and foil bedded the contact areas of the stock. It likes SK standard rifle. My trigger is good out of the box. I put a Shaw 20” barrel on it which improved the groups. The stock flexes and changes POI which sucks if you are trying to shoot a match. I don’t think anyone makes an aftermarket stock so I gave up on it and bought a Bergara barreled action which was immediately much better. My son still shoots the RPR in NRL and local benchrest, KYL, etc and it is not bad but isn’t really competitive in super factory class. I know others have had better luck than I did.

By far, the best bang for my buck to improve the rifle's accuracy was a muzzle brake timing washer set. Place those behind the thread protector in increasing thicknesses and BOOM! Instant tuner!

To make the rifle easier to shoot (different than the rifle's accuracy) I installed a vertical grip and grip extender from Brownells. This helps to get my trigger finger more in line with the barrel. Am also considering a more adjustable butt plate from Anarwchyoutdoors.com for a better shoulder fit when in position... maybe

Just remember the general rule: you're only allowed to spend $1 on bells and whistles for every hour that you train.

Enjoy!

Thank you everyone. My daughter has mostly used this and after a platform has been out for a bit, the fly by night shops making "upgrades" have all been figured out. I find it good to ask those who have tried a few things out. Thanks. I like the tuner shims idea!
