Garner's?Local shop 25 min away carries SK/Lapua
Anywhere and everywhere possible. Online, locally private, locally retail.Where are you guys generally buying your .22lr rifle match ammo from?
My local Scheels carries Eley and occassionally will get in some SK. My other two local gun stores don't carry it at all.
Spot on! Anything Lapua we're buying blind these days anyway, picking it up at a match for a decent price you can't lose, regardless of how it shoots in your gun, somebody else will want it if you don't. Recently picked up 5 bricks of Center X private sale at a good price. Shoots ok in one rig, in the other it's consistently sub .200 at 50yds...you never know.Larger matches are best place to score these days--big time shooters buy cases ( have better hook ups than the rest of us pilgrims) and they sell off lots they don't like--those lots could be magic in your rifle and if not they are EASY to sell ---the test center guy says all lots sell within a month or so they will work in someones rifle sooner or later--
I agree with what you are saying...but in my opinion a lot of it has to do with price. I have Lapua X-Act for sale in the classifieds right now and there doesn't seem to be any interest. I don't like the cost any better than the next guy, but if a person wants to try to be competitive, one is just going to have to pay the fiddler!Anywhere and everywhere possible. Maybe this winter there will be “test bricks” available but as of now it would seem people are having to buy blind, just glad to have some to shoot.
Burn up the phone and get on lists. Search.
Google every gun shop within your comfortable driving distance, call them, if no, ask who does, call them, rinse repeat. How bad do you want it?
I’m just slumming it, shooting SK only.I agree with what you are saying...but in my opinion a lot of it has to do with price. I bought (3) different lot numbers from Whidden...then picked out the best lot for my 2500x after testing. The stuff has gone up since I bought it a couple of months ago. Unfortunately if you want to play this competition rimfire game...you gotta pay! No way around it...I see (except to quit). I bought a case of the stuff that tested the best ($3600 bucks...OUCH)...it's now $4,000+!!
The stuff I'm keeping does shoot.
