22cal 50 TNT Jump or jam?

They've been pretty forgiving on seat depth for me in a std for 223 SAAMI 2.5 degree leade angle. Probably the most consistently accurate budget varmint bullet out there, good terminal performance. .005", .010", .015" off go from there.

I have been testing my 52 Fowlers and 55 Vamegeddons with 20 jam and they really seem to like it... But I admit I have not done a formal seating test. We just started jamming them hard for fire forming and man they really shoot.

Never understood the rationale for jamming a bullet into the lands especially for a hunting reload but then again I'm not an "expert".

The primer alone can generate enough gas/pressure to dislodge the bullet before main ignition takes place, in an inconsistent fashion, leading to accuracy issues (barrel timing). A jam can be more consistent in this regard. So can crimping the bullet. If it works and doesn't cause issues, go with it.

After checking seating depths in my chamber it appears I am going to have to jump them at least 20 thou. I think I will test loads at 25, I bet they shoot just fine. I bet they would shoot good at standard length. Certainly good enough for pdogs.

First pass shows that more is better. I have loads made up to test out to 75 thou jump today but it started pouring on the way to the range . 20190502_182706.jpg
