22br/Sierra 80gr mk`s/long distance

What kind of accuracy could i expect from a 22br shooting 80gr mk`s out to 500 yards? This will be used at the Varmint Hunters Association annual jamboree. Will have a reamer cut for the 80 gr mk to seat out. Thanks in advance...chris

I shoot the 80gr sierra in a 223 with an 8 twist barrel back to 1000 yards and back to 500 in your 22BR you should shoot under 1/2 moa all the way back. I know a fellow shooter that has been shooting the 22BR with the Sierra nad had great luck. I personaly will be going a 6mm Dasher as the ballistic advantage is huge. if you must have a 22 make sure the twist you chose will stabalise the new 90gr sierra when it comes out mabe a 6.5 or 7 twist and the 22 will be a better proposition for long range.

I also fing the 6mm is easier to clean than 22 cal's. Just chose wisley in twist and throat dimensions to allow it to be versatile for long range mabe shot the 90gr JLK aswell.

Thanks Bill for the info.I`m afraid i`ll be limited to an 8" twist. The competition it will be used for will be a "modified factory class". This lets you use factory parts but you can blueprint,re chamber and use a benchrest stock. My current setup is a rem 40x in a 308 but she`s getting tired.I`d go with the 6br in a heartbeat but remington custom shop only goes up to a 10" twist. They offer the 22br in all of the favorite twists up to an 8".
Varmint Hunters Association just recently started a .22 class so i`d like to use it for the modified factory plus the .22 class.I`ll be using it for a local 200 yard shoot as well.
Was thinking the 22br would be the best choice,??).
thanks chris

Chris you will be ok with that combination try the 75gr A Max aswell and Hornady and nosler also make 80gr match projectiles i think so try them all and see what shoots best. A 6mm BR should be available in 1 in 9.25 as that is the twist in my remington VLS rechambered to 6mm BR for hunting. but you have the option of the 22 class with the 22 BR also try the custon 22 cal bullets they might help but i have shoot sub 2" groups at 500 yards with the 80gr Sierra. Just make sure you jam the 80gr Sierra into the lands they seem to like it there better than jumping.
